Community Outings is a newly developed program where young people can engage with their Youth Coaches at a pre-arranged activity; and for the month of October, the Youth Zone visited Simons Farm in McMurray Pa.  

We had 17 young people and their children attend with their Youth Coaches. The fall festivities started off with a hayride down to Simons Farm’s fall activities field where the youth people got to choose from a variety of fall activities. Some activities included a human hamster wheel, hay and corn mazes, a double mega slide, smaller play areas for the children and a five-acre pumpkin patch.  

All the young people and their children got to pick out a pumpkin to take home with them. They also got to try freshly picked apples from Simons Farm’s apple orchard as well as their homemade apple cider. The evening wrapped up with a second hayride from the activities field back up to the market where the young people could spend some time at the petting zoo.
