A Very Special Christmas at the Youth Zone

Banner
“And this Christmas will be… a very special Christmas.” Lyrics that echo through the Youth Zone halls any day of the year, courtesy of one of our very own supervisors. But this past December truly was a very special Christmas.

As always, the holidays at the Youth Zone mean decking the halls with festive lights and honoring the many holidays celebrated throughout December. Every room was glowing, and the holiday spirit was in full force.

By December 18th, we were more than ready to party. Our space was bursting at the seams with holiday gifts, a high-energy team, and pure joy from everyone who came to celebrate. Forty-seven members joined us, and while snow may have been missing outside, inside we witnessed a snowball effect of kindness: everyone playing a part in making the day brighter for one another.

As the celebration unfolded, joy filled the room as Santa and the Grinch made their rounds handing out candy cane gifts. Youth grabbed slices of pizza, indulged in homemade baked cookies, and jumped into classic favorites like our famous saran wrap ball game and “punch a cup.” And of course, it wouldn’t be a Youth Zone party without music! Members hit the floor to dance and belt out many Christmas classics and karaoke favorites. (If you follow us on Instagram, you may have caught some of our talented YZ singers during the party wrap-up!)

We were grateful to create a safe, welcoming space filled with laughter, connection, and excitement, and to hear everyone share what they appreciate most during this time of year.
