For as long as she can remember, Poetic has dreamed of becoming an academic, though that path wasn’t always clear. Faced with many challenges such as housing insecurity, a lack of support systems, and even the weight of a global pandemic made her dream feel out of reach at times. But Poetic never let go. With hard work and her signature determination, she kept pushing forward.
This year, all of that persistence paid off. Poetic applied to graduate schools and was officially accepted into the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education where she’ll be pursuing a master’s degree in behavioral sciences. Her ultimate goal? To continue for her Doctorate and carve out her place in academia.
Along the way, our Education Coordinator was right there to support Poetic in turning her vision into reality, walking with her through the application process, offering guidance with forms and essays, and even accompanying her on a campus tour so she could picture herself thriving at Pitt.
Poetic’s acceptance is more than a milestone, it’s a reminder that with the right mix of personal drive and support, even the highest obstacles can be overcome. We can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish next!
